Young Artist in Contest!

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

My friend’s daughter Alice (10 years old) is one of five finalists in the Carnival Virtual Book of Dreams writing/drawing contest she entered online. See
http://dreambook.carnival-dream.com/SingleDream.aspx?m=1&dreamersubid=23cea01d-1be5-4372-a8be-6f492aa269c7

There were 506 entries. Four of them, including Alice, were chosen by judges for creative content.

Here’s Alice’s essay:

Have you ever wondered what babies or pets dream about? Wouldn’t it be awesome if there were a device that reveals dreams? I think it would be cool, especially since my brothers always tell me about their dreams. If this object were real, here’s what I think it would be like: It would be shaped like a cone. When you put your eye up against the small end and press the large side up against the sleeper’s head, you would be able to see the dream like a movie. Dials and buttons would control zooming in and out, watching in HD, and putting subtitles on. If more than one person wants to watch the dream, just put the smaller end against the sleeper’s head and like a projector in a theater, the dream will pour out of the large end of the cone. So next time you are listening to someone ramble on about the long dream they had last night, you can think “Darn it! I wish I had that dream projector. Wouldn’t that be awesome if it were real?” dream- Alice Woo
