Musician, film sound design
B.S. Film, emphasis in sound design, San Diego State University
Mel's music and performance has become famous for
the eccentric energy that comes from the pure emotion
he puts into his work. He describes his music as "rockin'
rock". He is heavily influenced by the band That
Dog as well as The Who. His first solo album, in which
he plays all instruments under the name Big Orange
Car, has been heard and enjoyed by very few. He is
currently working on a CD that will hopefully be heard
by many.
Mel also keeps busy by producing records by bands like Scapegoat
(in which he was a member playing bass), Dr Klahn, Underbite,
Funkapotamus and Blue Elder.
In addition to music, Mel has aspirations in film. Independent
filmmakers have sought Mel out to do sound design for many motion
pictures. He is currently doing sound for b-movie- "Sorority
Girls Revenge". Last year, he won the award for Excellence
in Sound for Film in the Television, Film and New Media department
at San Diego State University. Mel scored the film "I Wanna
Play" directed by Brent Washlake. This movie was recently
shown at the Director's Guild of America. |
